Hi Mary, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always had an artistic eye. Ever since I can remember, no matter the art or the craft, I have always challenged myself to try. That means I have a ridiculous collections of arts and crafts, from watercolor, pastels, wood-burning and acrylics to resins, jewelry and charcoals. I had a similar approach to photography, “let’s give it a try,” so in high school (many moons ago), I registered for photography 101 and fell in love. I learned the art of film, processing black and white- it’s still a favorite of mine. I’m currently building a studio with a darkroom in my home so I can dedicate more time to it. In college, my interest in photography continued moving from film to digital.
My daughter was born, at that moment, my desire to capture every moment was REAL! Shortly after my husband gifted me my first DSLR and my business grew organically. I captured friends and family, then their friends and family. Before I knew it, I was booking every weekend. Fast forward two years, I got married- it was then I realized how much I LOVED weddings. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get married again and again or just capture them. Fast forward nine years later, I’ve captured over 100 weddings and have loved every minute of my journey. I’ve met some amazing couples and vendors who have become my friends. I have had the opportunity to travel and capture weddings wherever the wind takes me. I couldn’t have done any of it without the support of my best friend, my husband, Jim. He’s extremely supportive of my constant photography talk, hours of editing, amazon shopping, gear upgrades, traveling, and more.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a lot of trial and error, finding out what works for me and my art. It took me a few years to realize that not everyone is my client and that I shouldn’t compare myself to others. I’m always learning, always growing, seeking new ways to market, brand, capture, edit, and light. 2020 was a challenging year, I put my clients first and did what I could to make rescheduling easier and as stress-free as possible. I am a photographer specializing in capturing beautiful portraits and weddings. I’m known for providing the very best experience to my couples, I joke that I’m their wedding day BFF. It’s true, I get to know my couples so that I can deliver images that define their relationship, let their personalities shine and I do everything in my power to make sure their day is captured as they have imagined!

What matters most to you?
My goal is the document the wedding day as it unfolds, capturing what the couples see and also what they don’t see. I want them to be able to relive and share those moments for years to come! My couples satisfaction and trust is extremely important to me, without my amazing couples- I wouldn’t be the artist I am today!
