A number of weeks ago the LEGO Group and Unity announced a new partnership which allowed budding game makers to create their own take of the LEGO video game, using the power of Unity. Now LEGO Ideas is using the LEGO Microgame platform for a new contest. The best thing is, all those who enter will get an exclusive Unity Minifigure. Grand prize winners will get some cool LEGO prizes including the new LEGO NES, some LEGO Super Mario sets and some Unity goodies. Learn more about the new Contest below and learn more about the LEGO Microgame here.

Lego has paired with game engine maker Unity for a Lego Microgame, where you can snap together virtual bricks to build the environment of your own custom game world. The Microgame is free. We’re interested in its capabilities as a game engine however, so we started with the Unity tutorials. The Lego Microgame is a great entry point for kids, aged about 12 and up. A straight-forward tutorial that goes step by step thorugh modifying a block-based game.

Build A Game With Unity

LEGO Microgames are published on the Unity Play platform. Go check out all the awesome LEGO games. Get started with Unity is where you'll need to go to submit your LEGO Microgame. During this process, I also discovered GitHub for Unity. LEGO lovers have the opportunity to create their very own fan games thanks to a new partnership between the LEGO Group and cross-platform game engine Unity. Users can access the LEGO Microgame video game design tool to easily create and submit game ideas, and if the idea is impressive enough, they may even earn the chance to become a fully.

As our partners at Unity say, “The world is a better place with more creators in it.” In this contest we’re looking for gaming enthusiasts to release their inner game creator!

Never built a game? No probs! The free LEGO Microgame from Unity is exactly what you need to get started. Are you an advanced game developer? Bring it on and show your skills as the LEGO Microgame offers unlimited creative possibilities, so treat it like any other game project, but with LEGO bricks in it. Are you a keen Studio builder? Import your builds to the game. We can assure you – you’ll never run out of bricks.
